Individual Units

 This is a four lesson unit which includes lessons over the Stonewall Riots, Harvey Milk, Obergefell v.  Hodges, and a biography of Pete Buttigieg.  Each lesson contains a one  or two-page reading followed by three pages of student activities which  include guided reading activities, multiple choice questions, a student  response essay question, vocabulary activities, and a series of short answer questions. 

 This unit celebrates the Women's Suffrage Movement.  There are 47 pages of activities centered around the  Seneca Falls Convention, the Women's Suffrage Movement, the 19th  Amendment, and biographies of Lucretia Mott,  Susan B. Anthony, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Carrie Chapman Catt and Alice  Paul. This is a stand alone unit documenting the life and work of George Orwell. In this unit there are three separate lessons covering the life of the author and his two most notable works of fiction, 1984 and Animal Farm. For each lesson there is a one page reading activity followed by reading comprehension questions, guided reading activities, vocabulary activities, student summaries, and a free response essay question. 

This is a three part unit that covers three of the most prominent members of the British Royal Family. There are biographies for Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Charles, and the late Diana, Princess of Wales. Each of the biographies is followed by guided reading questions, vocabulary activities, reading comprehension questions, and an essay question.

This is a five lesson unit that covers the development of the North during the years 1820-1860, with a special focus on transportation, communication, agriculture, and factories. Topics covered include John Deere's steel-tipped plow, the mechanical reaper, working conditions in factories, Samuel Morse and the telegraph, railroads, clippers, and the Erie Canal.

This is a three part unit that covers the explosion of Irish and German immigration into the United States during the early to mid 19th Century as well as nativist backlash to the newcomers. The lessons include: Irish Immigration, German Immigration, and Opposition to Immigration.

This is a four lesson unit which covers the following topics: Workers attempt to organize (early labor unions, such as the General Trades' Union); Women and African Americans in the Northern Economy (Sarah G. Bagley, Samuel Cornish, and John B. Russwurm); The Growth of Northern Cities; The Rise of Irish and German Immigration (1820-1860).  Each of these lessons contains a one-page reading, followed by three pages of student activities.

This is a single lesson unit with a two page reading which tells the story of the outbreak of the Spanish Influenza and its impact in 1918-1919. The reading is followed by three pages of student activities which include reading comprehension questions, guided reading activities, vocabulary activities, student summaries, and a student response essay question.
